The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee, abbreviated as SOCHUM, is the third committee of the United Nations General Assembly. In the sessions of the Cultural Committee, every member of the United Nations does have a right of representation and put their words on a document or an issue on the agenda. SOCHUM is responsible for dealing with social and humanitarian issues, and questions regarding fundamental human rights. In this year’s annual session of KMUN, delegates of the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee are expected to find effective solutions to topics such as the preservation of rights of the activists and protesters while promoting the freedom of expression, preventing violent actions against the environmentalists and related groups in Latin America; and discuss the ways to eradicate the impacts of the water insecurity and provide free access to the clean water within the communities.
